A PAIR OF GEORGE II SILVER SAUCEBOATS with shaped rim, flying dolphin handles and on three elaborate lion mask and paw supports, engraved with an armorial to one side and a tiger crest to the other for Dent, the initials D over I.I to underside.Full clear marks to the underside of both. Engraving to initials and armorials clear. The feet slightly pushed inwards on one. General wear and scratching to both, minor knock to rim at edge and one at spout. The armorial and crest probably later than the initials to the underside.

A DOLPHIN HANDLED SAUCEBOAT WITH ROCOCO CHASING has a low oval body raised from sheet; a cut wave-form shaped rim and a broad curved pouring lip. The body is supported by three cast legs with paw feet. The feature dolphin handle is formed of two castings seamed down the handle with a vent hole around the mouth. The dolphin’s tail is attached to the sauceboat body. The body is flat chased rococo with flowers and swirling leaves and a single shell beneath the lip. There is a crest in the cartouche.

This elongated pear shape body is raised, with a formed lip and a cast and applied circular foot. The swan neck spout is cast in two vertical halves and ornamented at its base with shellwork and at its lip with a stylised swan head with an eye on each side and topped with a single acanthus leaf. The upper handle socket with a pendant shell has a five-part hinge attached. The scrolled lower handle socket is applied to a circular reinforcing disc. The scrolled fruitwood handle with thumb support is attached to each socket with a silver pin. The domed cover is raised and has an applied lip moulding and a cast and applied bud shaped-finial. The body is decorated with rococo interlocking scrolls, flowers, shells and leaves. The spout is cast with shells, scrolls and an acanthus leaf at front. The lid with gadroon decoration interspersed with shells. The circular foot with shells around.The base is engraved with the initials ‘W/T*I’.

This Grace cup has a plain inverted-bell shaped form to a circular spreading base. The handles are fabricated from two pieces of sheet with a small thumb rest at the top. The surface is encircled with a plain applied girdle and the rim has the same to form a lip.

A GEORGE II TWO-HANDLED CUP of inverted-bell shaped form on a raised circular spreading cast base. The surface is encircled with a applied moulded plain mid-band and the rim has been shaped to form a lipThe double scroll handles are hollow cast in halves and seamed vertically. There is a small casting hole on the seam of each handle at the base of the lower scroll. The top of the handles are covered with an applied leaf decoration.<br><br>The raised, domed cover with flared lip is plain topped with a plain finial. It is unmarked and added later.<br><br>The body is engraved with a ‘squirrel’ crest the same as the 1743 Salver. This is likely to be the Cresswell family of Cresswell, Morpeth. Landed gentry since time of King John. (Ref Thomas Bewick bookplate).

The cover is later.
